Two arrested for fraudulent promises of foreign employment in UK and Poland

Police have arrested two individuals on Wednesday for allegedly defrauding people by promising lucrative foreign employment in the UK and Poland.

KATHMANDU, June 7: Police have arrested two individuals on Wednesday for allegedly defrauding people by promising lucrative foreign employment in the UK and Poland.



The arrested individuals have been identified as  Pramila Baruwal,40, originally from Manthali Municipality-3, Ramechhap, currently residing in Dakshinkali-1, Kathmandu, and Mohan Pokhrel,34, from Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-4, Palpa, residing in Gongabu, Kathmandu.

According to complaints filed by the victims, Pramila took Rs 3.235 million from seven individuals, promising jobs in the UK, while Mohan took Rs 1 million from one person for a promised job in Poland. Both suspects then cut off contact with the victims.


Acting on the complaints, a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested Pramila from Halchowk, Nagarjun-3, and Mohan from Gongabu, Kathmandu-26.


They have been handed over to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, Kathmandu for further investigation and action.
