224 companies gain as NEPSE surges 31.12 points, daily turnover stands at Rs 8.40 billion

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday inclined by 31.12 points to close at 2,672.55 points.



The secondary market opened at 2,641.43 points and escalated to as high as 2,669.35 points within the first two hours. The index remained almost stable until the last five minutes, while the market surged by six points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

All the 13 groups were the gainers in the intraday trading. Manufacturing and processing had the largest gain of 213.79 points as development banks, life insurance, hotels and tourism, and finance added three-digit gains in their indices.  


The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies inclined 4.70 points. The daily turnover stood at an impressive Rs 8.40 billion. 


Among the individual companies, 224 were gainers while 31 were recorded as losers. Manjushree Finance had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 531.65 million.


Four companies including Sagar Distillery, Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Shreenagar Agritech Industries Limited and Gurkhas Finance witnessed the highest gain of 10 percent of their market prices. Three Star Hydropower Limited by losing 8.78 percent stood as the highest loser.
