KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday escalated by 42.26 points to close at 2,714.81 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,672.55 points and gradually surged to day’s high at 2,726.57 points within the first two hours. In the next one hour, the market fell to as low as 2,705.72 points. The market recovered around nine points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

All the 13 groups were the gainers in the intraday trading. Life insurance had the largest gain of 243.14 points, followed by hotels and tourism, non-life insurance, and manufacturing and processing that witnessed three-point gains.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies inclined 7.82 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 11.85 billion from Rs 8.40 billion.
Among the individual companies, 224 were gainers while 31 were recorded as losers. NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 407.92 million.
Gurkhas Finance had the highest gain of 10 percent of its market price. SBL Debenture 2089 by losing 4.23 percent stood as the highest loser.
