Meanwhile, in Darchula, another police constable, Yogendra Gharti, was found dead Tuesday morning behind a hotel in Mahakali Municipality-4, Bangadanda. Injuries observed on his body have raised suspicions of homicide, prompting further investigation.
The events have unfolded as police are intensifying nationwide measures to ensure public safety as the government has implemented its Integrated Security Plan ahead of the March 5 elections.
Earlier, a team of Armed Police Force (APF) was attacked by smugglers after it tried to raid an illegal warehouse in Birgunj in Parsa district which demonstrated the helplessness of the state mechanism.
Three APF personnel were injured in the clash, and two police vehicles were also damaged.
These incidents are being unfolded at a time when Nepal Police is working hard to maintain order following the September 8–9 protests, which left security forces, particularly the police, momentarily off guard.
