Bagmati govt adjusts public transport fares

Minimum fare in Kathmandu Valley set at Rs 24

KATHMANDU, April 11: The Bagmati Province government has revised the fare rates for public transportation operating within the province.



The adjustment applies to public vehicles operating inside the Kathmandu Valley as well as those running between Kathmandu and other cities and settlements in Bagmati Province.

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Transport has published the new fare structure in the provincial gazette.


According to the new rates, fares have been set differently for routes inside and outside the Valley. Within the Valley, fares are based on distance. The minimum fare has now been set at Rs 24.


Inside the Kathmandu Valley, the fare structure is as follows: up to 5 km – Rs 24, up to 10 km – Rs 33, up to 15 km – Rs 39, up to 20 km – Rs 44, and above 20 km – Rs 50.


The ministry stated that the existing fare structure for electric public vehicles, implemented on April 14, 2022, will remain unchanged.
