KATHMANDU, May 21: Senior journalist Balakrishna Adhikari has been appointed editor of Nagarik Daily.
Publisher Nepal Republic Media officially handed Adhikari the editorial responsibility on Thursday following the resignation of editor-in-chief Guna Raj Luintel.
Adhikari, who holds a master’s degree in journalism from Tribhuvan University, has been active in the media industry for more than two decades. He began his journalism career with Yugwani Weekly and later worked with several weekly publications, as well as Naya Patrika Daily and Sourya Daily. Before his appointment, he served as the political bureau chief at Nagarik Daily.

He has also served as a board member of Press Council Nepal and as chairperson of the Foundation Province Committee of the Federation of Nepali Journalists.
Speaking at a program organized at the office of Nepal Republic Media Limited on Thursday, founding chairman Binodraj Gyawali bid farewell to outgoing editor-in-chief Luintel and welcomed newly appointed editor Adhikari.
Gyawali expressed confidence that Adhikari would provide capable and effective editorial leadership.
Addressing the function, Adhikari pledged to lead the newsroom in line with the principles and values of journalism. He said he would work closely with colleagues to further strengthen Nagarik.
At the event, Sambridhi Gyawali congratulated Adhikari and encouraged him to deliver editorial leadership that reflects changing times.
