KATHMANDU, June 4: Former General Secretary of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Dhawal Shamsher Rana, has announced plans to launch a new political party, centering its agenda on “democracy with monarchy” and the establishment of a Hindu state.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Rana said his decision came after the RPP failed to effectively advance its core ideological agenda and organizational goals.

He said the new political force will be built on the principle of “democracy with monarchy,” arguing that his move is aimed at strengthening a broader nationalist political front rather than simply switching parties.
Rana accused the RPP leadership of weakening internal democracy and failing to hold timely general conventions, adding that repeated efforts to reform the party did not yield results.
He also cited the party’s declining electoral performance and uncertain prospects in upcoming elections as key reasons behind the decision to form a new political outfit.
According to him, the proposed party will prioritize youth and women’s leadership while focusing on governance, employment, and national development issues. It also aims to bring together monarchist, nationalist, and Hindu political forces under a unified platform.
Rana further said that individuals and groups with similar ideology—including the coordinator of the “Rastra, Rastriyata, Dharma, Sanskriti Tatha Nagarik Bachau Maha Abhiyan” and medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai—will be incorporated into the new initiative.
