KATHMANDU, July 20: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has urged the line ministries in all seven provinces to make arrangements to validate medical certificates issued by doctors registered with the Nepal Medical Council (NMC) during the driving licence issuance process.
According to a circular issued by the department a few days ago, the measure is intended to prevent unnecessary crowds of service seekers, reduce their financial burden, and address problems arising from the involvement of certain groups and syndicates in the process of obtaining and issuing driving licences.

With the implementation of the circular, the medical checkups required for obtaining driving licences are expected to become more systematic, transparent, and efficient, benefiting service seekers.
Meanwhile, the department has also sought details of doctors registered with the Nepal Medical Council. In a letter sent on July 17, it requested the Council to provide the relevant information.
