Police said Chaurasiya had gone to the room of Santosh Sah, 26, of Dipahi in Madhavnarayan Municipality–1, Rautahat, and his 24-year-old wife, Soni Kumari Sah. The couple had been residing in a house owned by a local, Firoz Miya, located behind the Indian Consulate in Ranighat.
The District Police Office, Parsa, said the killing appears to have stemmed from an alleged illicit relationship between Chaurasiya and Soni Kumari.
Four individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the case: Santosh Sah, Soni Kumari Sah, Bishal Sah, 19, of Mahagadhi Municipality–7 in Bara, and Om Bir Prajapati, 21, from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. Police said all four are suspected of jointly carrying out the murder.
Parsa Police Chief SP Sudip Raj Pathak said Santosh Sah allegedly orchestrated the incident after learning about the relationship, asking his wife to call Chaurasiya and lure him to the room.
Upon his arrival, the accused allegedly attacked Chaurasiya with an iron rod, striking him on the head and killing him, police said. Further investigation into the case is underway.
