KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Police have arrested a foreign national in possession of gold at the international arrivals tunnel gate of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
According to police, the individual had already cleared the customs checkpoint on Saturday evening and exited the customs area. However, security personnel detained him after finding his behavior suspicious.

A search of his bag led to the recovery of 40 grams of gold, seized in the form of four biscuits.
The arrested person has been identified as 64-year-old Imtiaz Ahmed, a Finnish national, who arrived in Kathmandu from Delhi, India, on an Air India flight. During questioning, Ahmed told police that the items had been handed to him by someone else.
According to police, Ahmed appears to be only a carrier, and further investigation is ongoing.
