KATHMANDU, March 27: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Gagan Kumar Thapa has pledged that the party will take initiatives to strengthen ties between Nepal and people of Nepali origin living across the world.
Thapa made the commitment during a meeting on Thursday with a delegation from the Association of Nepali Origin (ANO), including its President Dilli Adhikari, Vice President and senior advocate Sushil Kumar Pant, General Secretary Chudamani Bhattarai, and Board of Trustees member Omraj Gurung.

He said the NC has already made efforts to include people of Nepali origin in its election manifesto and will continue working to engage them more closely with the country.
During the meeting, ANO President Adhikari urged the party to focus on attracting investment from the Nepali diaspora to support Nepal’s development and prosperity. He also called for the formulation of diaspora-friendly laws to facilitate such engagement.
The discussion, which was also attended by NC central member Ajay Babu Shivakoti and Nepal Democratic Disabled Federation Chairperson Madhav Chamlagain, highlighted concerns over the safety of Nepali-origin people living in conflict-affected regions around the world. The ANO delegation urged the party to take initiatives to ensure their protection and rescue where necessary.
