KATHMANDU, May 30: The price of gold in the domestic market dropped Rs 3,100 per tola (11.6638 grams) amid continuing geopolitical tension in the Middle East and the depletion in the value of Nepali rupees against the US dollar.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FENEGOSIDA), the market price of gold fell to Rs 290,600 from Rs 293,700 per tola when the market closed the previous week. On Sunday, the price of the precious metal decreased by Rs 2,800 per tola, to open for the weekday trading. Except on Friday when the price surged by Rs 5,600 per tola, there were freefall in prices on the rest of the days.
