KATHMANDU, Oct 20: The government has invited tenders for the import of 471,300 metric tons of chemical fertilizers for the current Fiscal Year (FY), out of the targeted total of 600,000 metric tons.
It has been said that necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth supply of fertilizers to farmers. The government has allocated a budget of Rs 28.82 billion for fertilizer imports.

According to data provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, as of mid-October, 194,085 metric tons of fertilizers are in the supply process. Among them, the Krishi Samagri Company Limited (KSCL) has 33,338 metric tons of urea, while the Salt Trading Corporation (STC) has 57,670 metric tons. In total, the KSCL has supplied 115,405 metric tons of fertilizers including urea and DAP and STC has supplied 78,680 metric tons.
The ministry further stated that 108,908 metric tons of fertilizers are currently in stock. Of this, KSCL has 63,800 metric tons (including DAP, urea, and potash), while STC holds 45,108 metric tons.
The ministry assured that there is sufficient stock of fertilizers for winter crops. From mid-July to mid-October, a total of 132,807 metric tons of fertilizers have been sold.
