KATHMANDU, June 25: The government has formed a committee to review the grading of answer sheets and data entry processes related to the recently published Grade XII examination results under the National Examination Board (NEB).
The move comes amid growing demands from a section of students for a re-evaluation of answer sheets and verification of data entry, with many alleging serious flaws in the grading process.
In a post on social media, Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel said a committee comprising under-secretary-level officials from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Curriculum Development Centre has been tasked with examining the issue.

“The committee has been formed to conduct sample-based reviews of answer sheets and verify examination scores and data entry records,” Pokharel said.
The minister, however, rejected claims that the results were published hastily. He said the results were released on schedule after mobilising additional manpower and streamlining administrative procedures.
On Thursday, students staged a protest at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu, alleging that the NEB rushed the publication of the results, leading to errors in grading and score compilation. The NEB had published the results within 45 days of the examinations following instructions from Minister Pokharel.
Protesting students claimed that the hurried publication adversely affected the results of many examinees, forcing some to appear for re-sit or chance examinations.
Students have also raised concerns over the fees charged for rechecking and chance examinations. The NEB charges Rs 1,000 per subject for rechecking answer sheets.
