The Cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided that all land of the academy will continue to remain under its use as before.
Earlier, under a Cabinet decision dated September 6, 2018 (Bhadra 21, 2075 BS), the same land had been allocated to the Office of the President. The government has now reversed that decision, ensuring that the land remains under the ownership and use of the academy.
Responding to the decision, IGP Karki shared his views through a post on Facebook.
He wrote that the 114 ropani and 3 aana land of the National Police Training Academy, established as a symbol of the Nepal Police’s historical legacy, institutional pride, and professional excellence, will now remain under its ownership as before. He described the government’s decision made on April 23, 2026 (Baisakh 10, 2083 BS) as extremely important and historic for the Nepal Police organization.
According to him, the decision will have a long-term positive impact on institutional strengthening, infrastructure development, and enhancement of professional capacity within the police force.
IGP Karki termed the move a significant and forward-looking decision and thanked Prime Minister Balen Shah and the Cabinet. He also expressed gratitude toward retired senior police officials who had long advocated for this cause.
He further expressed hope that the government would continue to provide institutional support in the future for strengthening the Nepal Police and ensuring effective service delivery.
