KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Kathmandu District recorded a total of 976 cases during the month of Magh (January–February), according to the District Police Range Kathmandu.
Of the total cases, 159 were classified as heinous and serious crimes, said Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhatta, the district police spokesperson. Financial crimes accounted for the highest number, with 466 cases registered, while 22 cases involved women and senior citizens.

Police arrested 709 individuals in connection with the cases, including 637 men. During a special operation, 10 people were arrested for allegedly robbing citizens while riding motorcycles.
As part of enforcing court verdicts, police collected fines amounting to Rs 20.2 million from 360 individuals.
Among cases involving women and girls, 149 were related to domestic violence. Of these, 49 cases were registered through direct complaints. Police resolved 131 cases through arbitration, while 36 were settled through mediation.
