He also stated that the training center would help enhance farmers’ technical skills, boost agricultural productivity, and create employment opportunities, while enabling Nepal to learn from China’s modern agricultural practices.
CFRD Nepal Country Director Zou Zhiqiang highlighted the importance of Nepal-China cooperation in technology transfer, sustainable agriculture, and rural revitalization, the release stated.
She said the center would support local farmers through technical training, modern farming technologies, and improved agricultural practices.
The project is currently being implemented in Khokana, Lalitpur, and Hudu of Dakshinkali Municipality, focusing on vegetable productivity, efficient water use, integrated pest management, balanced fertilization, and institutional coordination.
Dakshinkali Municipality Mayor Mohan Basnet said such initiatives could play an important role in transferring agricultural technology and skills from China to Nepal through modern farming systems.
Similarly, Lalitpur Ward-21 Chairperson Rabindra Maharjan expressed hope that the project would benefit local farmers in Khokana and nearby areas by encouraging climate-smart agriculture and sustainable farming methods.
Representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Chinese agricultural experts and professors from Chongqing, government officials, stakeholders, and local farmers attended the event.
The CFRD recently facilitated a technical visit by agricultural experts from Chongqing, China, who conducted field-level training with Nepali farmers on greenhouse cultivation, post-harvest handling, and integrated vegetable farming systems, the statement said.
The organization stated that it has expanded its activities in Nepal under the Vibrant Village Initiative, including hybrid rice demonstration farms in Chitwan, greenhouse vegetable projects in Khokana and Dakshinkali, and fishery and livestock technology projects in Jhapa. CFRD has been working in Nepal since 2015.
