KHALANGA, March 7: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Dharmananda Joshi has maintained a narrow lead in the ongoing House of Representatives (HoR) election vote count in Darchula, where a close contest continues to unfold.
So far, vote counting has been completed in Byas Rural Municipality, Duhu Rural Municipality, and Shailyashikhar Municipality, while counting is currently underway in Mahakali Municipality-1.

According to the latest results, Joshi has secured 7,049 votes, while CPN-UML candidate Ganesh Singh Thagunna has received 6,642 votes. The NC is leading the UML by 407 votes, with the two parties locked in a tight race since the beginning of the count.
Similarly, the Rastriya Swatantra Party has received 2,356 votes. Candidates from other parties, including the Nepali Communist Party and others, have not crossed 1,000 votes.
Chief Election Officer Bhuwan Giri said vote counting is currently ongoing in Mahakali Municipality-1. Final results will be announced after counting is completed in the remaining areas. As counting is still underway, public and political party interest remains high regarding the final outcome.
