DHANGADHI, Sept 28: Following colossal discussion and talks, Province 7 has been named as Sudurpashchim and Godawari as its capital, finally.
A Provincial meeting held today endorsed the proposal amid protest by the main opposition party Nepali Congress and Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP-N).
Conservationists against Godawari as capital
A special panel led by lawmaker Tara Lama Tamang had submitted the proposal for the province’s name and capital. ‘Sudurpaschim’ was proposed as the name of the province while its proposed capital is Godawari of Kailali district.
Of the total 53 lawmakers in the Province 7, a total of 38 lawmakers from Nepal Comunist Party (NCP) had voted in favor of motion while 14 - 12 from Nepali Congres and two from Rastriya Janata Party (RJPN) - voted against the motion.
