SIRAHA, April 9: An arrest warrant has been issued against Siraha Municipality Mayor Nabin Kumar Yadav. The mayor is accused of assaulting and verbally abusing a 50-year-old office assistant, Ramsharan Yadav, at his office on April 6.
The victim, Ramsharan, filed a complaint against the mayor, prompting the Siraha District Police Office to request an arrest warrant from the district court. “An arrest warrant has been issued against Mayor Nabin Kumar Yadav. He is currently not at the office, and we are searching for him,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Basudev Pathak.

Following the incident, municipal staff protested at the office, demanding action against the mayor. The protest has disrupted regular municipal operations. According to the victim, Mayor Yadav verbally abused and physically attacked him with kicks and punches while he was marking attendance.
The employees are demanding free medical treatment, adequate compensation, strict legal action against the mayor, and a work environment in which staff can perform their duties with dignity.
Binay Kumar Sonu, Chief Administrative Officer of Siraha Municipality, stated that the protest would continue until their demands are addressed seriously.
