KATHMANDU, April 26: Two individuals have been arrested on charges of unauthorized access and alteration of contract details in the Public Procurement Monitoring Office’s e-Government Procurement (e-GP) system.
A team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested Prakash Dhungana, director of Kalpavriksha Builders Pvt. Ltd., and Swadesh Pokharel, shareholder and accountant of Incon Pvt. Ltd.
Dhungana was arrested from Balaju in Kathmandu Metropolitan City–16, while Pokharel was taken into custody from Pepsicola in Ward No. 32.

According to preliminary investigations, the accused are suspected of altering financial proposal documents before they were officially opened in the procurement process.
The Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police has filed a case against both individuals under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063.
CIB spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police Shiv Kumar Shrestha said further investigation is ongoing under the Organized Crime Prevention Act, 2070.
Earlier, Kalika Construction director and Rastriya Prajatantra Party leader Bikram Pandey and Bishan Construction’s Tank Kumar Shrestha were also arrested in the same case on Friday.
So far, a total of nine suspects have been taken into custody as the investigation continues.
