BARDIYA, April 19: Two people, including a child, were killed and two others injured after an ambulance struck four pedestrians in Guleriya on Sunday morning.
The accident occurred near the Division Forest Office in Ward No. 7 of Guleriya when an ambulance returning to Rajapur from Kohalpur hit the victims as they were crossing the road.
Two killed in ambulance-motorcycle collision
According to police inspector Prakash Karki, the deceased have been identified as 52-year-old Bhumi Lamichhane and his five-year-old grandson Rihans Kharel. Both died on the spot.
Police said Lamichhane’s wife, Sita Lamichhane, and another injured person, Surya Upadhyaya, are undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Teaching Hospital in Kohalpur.
Preliminary reports indicate that the victims were on their way to an Ayurvedic hospital for yoga when the speeding ambulance hit them while they were crossing the road.
Lamichhane was known locally as a yoga instructor. The incident, which claimed the lives of two members of the same family and injured two others, has left the Guleriya community in mourning.
