KATHMANDU, April 20: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) defeated Nepal by 6 wickets in the opening match of the T20 International series at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, in a rain-affected contest decided by the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method.
Rain interruptions reduced the chase, with UAE set a revised target of 122 runs. They were required to score 78 runs from 10 overs and successfully overhauled the target in 8.5 overs, finishing on 78 for 4.

UAE Captain Muhammad Waseem led from the front with a brisk 33 off 15 deliveries, striking four boundaries and six towering sixes. Alishan Sharafu added 18 runs, while Akashdeep Nath chipped in with 17 as UAE maintained control of the chase.
For Nepal, left-arm spinner Sandeep Lamichhane claimed three wickets, while Kushal Malla picked up one.
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Nepal posted 122 for 8 in 18.5 overs. Captain Dipendra Singh Airee anchored the innings with an unbeaten 32. Kushal Malla contributed 17, Kushal Bhurtel 16, and Basir Ahmad 14. Arjun Saud and Nandan Yadav added 13 runs each, while Sandeep Jora made 6.
UAE’s bowling attack was led by Muhammad Zuhaib, who took 3 wickets, while Junaid Siddique returned with 2. Haider Ali and Muhammad Afran claimed one wicket apiece.
