2,297 motorists booked in 24 hours as traffic police collect Rs 2.02 million in fines

Among those penalized were 103 drivers caught driving under the influence of alcohol, 134 involved in unauthorized ride-sharing services, 102 who ran red lights, and 108 caught speeding.

KATHMANDU, June 11: Traffic police booked 2,297 motorists for violating traffic rules across the Kathmandu Valley over the past 24 hours, collecting Rs 2.021 million in fines.



According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the enforcement drive targeted a wide range of traffic offences, from drunk driving and speeding to illegal parking and traffic signal violations.

Among those penalized were 103 drivers caught driving under the influence of alcohol, 134 involved in unauthorized ride-sharing services, 102 who ran red lights, and 108 caught speeding.


Traffic police also took action against 141 motorists for violating lane discipline, 186 for honking in prohibited areas, 158 for parking on footpaths, and 77 for driving on one-way roads.


The remaining 1,288 motorists were fined for various other traffic violations, the office said, adding that regular monitoring and enforcement efforts are being intensified to improve road safety and traffic discipline in the Valley.
