Imports from Bangladesh soar to Rs 4.75 billion as exports is limited to Rs 350 million

Nepal imported goods worth Rs 4.75 billion from Bangladesh through the Kakarbhitta border point by the end of Baisakh in the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25. In return, Nepal exported products worth Rs 356.2 million to Bangladesh.

KATHMANDU, June 4: Nepal imported goods worth Rs 4.75 billion from Bangladesh through the Kakarbhitta border point by the end of Baisakh in the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25. In return, Nepal exported products worth Rs 356.2 million to Bangladesh.



According to Subash Pandey, the head of the Kakarbhitta branch office of the Nepal Transit and Warehousing Company Limited, the largest import item was raw jute, totaling Rs 1.78 billion.

Other major imported items from Bangladesh include batteries, poultry feed supplements, cosmetic items, hydrogen peroxide, jute yarn, electrical equipment, medicines, potatoes, paper, glass, food and beverages, among others.
