24 injured after a bus carrying army personnel crashes en route to election base camp

A bus carrying Nepali Army personnel to establish a base camp for the upcoming House of Representatives election met with an accident in Bhojpur district on Tuesday.

KATHMANDU, Feb 18: A bus carrying Nepali Army personnel to establish a base camp for the upcoming House of Representatives election met with an accident in Bhojpur district on Tuesday.



The incident occurred at Setibagar in Bhojpur Municipality-3. According to police, the bus (Na 4 Kha 7317) was heading to Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality from the Nepal Army’s Naya Shrinath Battalion in Bhojpur when it veered off the road and plunged approximately 200 metres down a slope.

A total of 24 personnel were injured in the crash. Among them, eight were airlifted to Kathmandu by a Nepal Army helicopter for further treatment, according to the District Police Office, Bhojpur.


The House of Representatives (HoR) election is scheduled for March 5. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
