KATHMANDU, April 10: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has again urged the public to limit airport farewells to a maximum of three people per departing passenger at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

Airport authorities said large groups of family members and friends coming to see off travelers have been causing overcrowding inside the airport premises.

According to the airport office, as many as 10 people sometimes accompany a single passenger, adding pressure to already busy facilities and creating security and operational challenges.

The airport administration said it has issued repeated notices requesting the public to limit farewell gatherings, but the number of people coming to the airport has not declined significantly.

Officials warned that unnecessary crowding is creating inconvenience for both domestic and international passengers, and urged the public to cooperate by keeping farewell groups small.
