KATHMANDU, April 12: Environmentalists have urged increased use of electric energy to reduce fuel consumption. Speaking at a program titled “Healthy Environment: Today’s Need” organized by Kailashkut Social Campaign in Handigaun, they recommended using electric appliances for cooking and other daily tasks.

Environmental expert Bhushan Tuladhar stressed replacing gas with electricity in kitchens to reduce indoor air pollution. He also advised against burning waste such as plastic and suggested using masks while traveling in industrial areas or highly polluted places.
Environmentalist Shilshila Acharya said that adopting traditional knowledge and skills in practice could support environmental conservation. She emphasized the need to link environmental issues with health and society.
Organization chair Mahesh Kumar Shrestha said awareness programs related to health, education, environment, and culture should be continued.
Speakers at the event also noted that switching from gas to electricity in kitchens can lower costs and reduce air pollution.
