KATHMANDU, Feb 3: Six fringe communist parties that have been boycotting the March 5 House of Representatives (HoR) elections have demanded the immediate release of Purna Bahadur Khadka, who was recently arrested by Nepal Police following a public function in Dudhouli, Sindhuli, on Monday.
A central joint struggle committee of the fringe parties has warned the government of a stronger political movement if it interferes with their protest programmes. In a statement, the committee condemned the arrest of Khadka, who is also a central member of the Mohan Baidhya-led Revolutionary Communist Party.

The committee accused the government of attempting to disrupt its peaceful struggle by detaining Khadka and issued a stern warning against further interference.
“We strongly warn the government not to interfere in our peaceful struggle programmes and to immediately release Comrade Purna Bahadur Khadka unconditionally,” the statement said.
The committee, which has been campaigning for the formation of an all-party government, comprises the Mohan Baidhya-led Revolutionary Communist Party, CPN (Bahumat), the Scientific Socialist Party, CPN (Janapakshya), the Nepal Communist Party, and the Socialist Communist Party.
