KATHMANDU, April 21: The government has formed a committee to recommend candidates for chairperson of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), following the resignation by the SEBON’s former chairperson Santosh Narayan Shrestha.
A cabinet meeting on Tuesday formed the panel under the coordination of National Planning Commission Vice Chairman Gunakar Bhatta. Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay and former banker Bhuvan Kumar Dahal are among the members of the committee.

Shrestha, resigned from his post on Friday, stating to ‘pave the way’ in support of the government’s work. The then Prime Minister KP Oli had appointed Shrestha as SEBON Chairperson on November 25, 2024. He led the capital market regulator for 17 months amid ongoing controversy surrounding his tenure.
