KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Nepali insurance companies recorded double-digit growth in premium collection in the first six months of the current fiscal year (FY).
Records from the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) show that 17 life insurers, including three micro life insurers, collected premiums worth Rs 96.64 billion between mid-July 2025 and mid-January 2026. This amount was 19.05 percent higher than the Rs 81.17 billion collected during the same period of the previous FY.
Seven insurers—four life and three non-life—declare dividends
Nepal Life Insurance recorded the highest premium collection. According to the NIA, the life insurer earned premiums of Rs 25.51 billion, representing growth of 13.6 percent during the review period. In terms of percentage growth, premium collection by Rastriya Jeewan Beema Company surged by 128.25 percent to Rs 6.33 billion.
Likewise, non-life insurance companies also increased their business by 14.06 percent. During the review period, premium collection by 18 non-life insurers, including four micro insurers, rose to Rs 24.30 billion from Rs 21.30 billion in the same period.
