KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Chairperson of the Madhes-based Janamat Party, CK Raut, has urged the public to identify individuals and forces that are against Madheshis before it is too late.
Taking to social media, Raut allegedly pointed toward former Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen). During his tenure, Shah had cleared street vendors and scrap collectors, many of whom were from the Madheshi community.

Raut accused certain actors of forcibly driving Madhesis out of Kathmandu by deploying the metropolitan police. He alleged that such actions reflect an anti-Madhes, anti-identity, anti-federalism, and anti-autonomy mindset.
Raut emphasized that instead of pushing Madheshis out of the capital, efforts should focus on protecting them in Kathmandu and ensuring their dignity and self-respect.
“Rather than chasing Madhesis away from Kathmandu, what matters is safeguarding them in the capital and upholding their self-respect,” Raut wrote. He further alleged that those who use the metropolitan police “like a Nazi force” to drag and expel Madhesis from the city should be identified in time and confronted. According to him, such actions are fundamentally opposed to Madhes, identity, federalism, and autonomy.
Raut’s remarks come at a time when Mayor Shah is scheduled to address a public gathering in Janakpur on Monday in connection with the March 5 parliamentary election.
