KATHMANDU, March 2: Gen-Z campaigner Miraj Dhungana has clarified that he has not joined the Nepali Congress (NC).
Amid speculation that he would formally enter the party during a program organized in Sarlahi Constituency-4, Miraj said he had only attended the event to express support for NC President Gagan Kumar Thapa.

Speaking to Republica after posing for a photograph with Thapa on stage on Monday, Miraj made it clear that he had no intention of joining the party. “I did not go there to enter the party. I went only to express my support for Gagan dai and the Nepali Congress,” he said. “Rather than taking membership of a party right now and diving into politics, my plan is to support forces whose ideas align with mine.”
Miraj also shared his views on why he did not support the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). He claimed that a crowd of people without political awareness or background cannot build the country. “In RSP, there are many individuals who have never been involved in politics or have no political background at all, and many artists have also joined,” he said. “Such people cannot build a nation. Politics requires history, sacrifice, and values. That is why I did not support RSP.”
He added that he chose to support the Nepali Congress because it carries a long history of struggle and because of what he described as visionary leadership under Gagan Thapa. “To run a country, experience and ideas are necessary,” he said.
Previously, on September 8, Miraj had led a Gen-Z movement in Kathmandu. He and his group have been critical of the current government, accusing it of being indifferent to their demands.
