BIRATNAGAR, May 5: A motorbike accident in Morang district has left one person dead and two others injured after the vehicle collided while attempting to overtake a truck on the East-West Highway.
The incident occurred at Salakpur in Sundarharaicha Municipality–07 along the East-West Highway when a motorcycle (Ko 10 Pa 8128) tried to overtake a truck (Province 1 01 001 Kha 4303), according to police.
Tanker-motorbike mishap claims two
The rider, 20-year-old Anish Budhathoki of Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality–01 in Dhankuta, died in the accident.
Two pillion riders, 19-year-old Ashish BK and 18-year-old Haribahadur BK from Sundarharaicha–07, Morang, were injured and are currently receiving treatment at Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar.
Police said truck driver Rakesh Khadka, 23, has been taken into custody by the Area Police Office, Belbari, for further investigation.
Authorities are looking into the circumstances of the crash.
