The NA said the team’s achievement had significantly enhanced the image and prestige of Nepal and its national army on the global stage.
The Exercise Cambrian Patrol, often described as the “Olympics of military patrolling,” is one of the most challenging and respected military competitions in the world. Organised annually by the British Army in Brecon, Wales, the exercise tests the participants’ leadership, endurance, navigation, fieldcraft and tactical skills in demanding terrain and weather conditions.
Competing teams from around the world are assessed on their ability to plan and execute a long-distance patrol mission under simulated operational conditions. This year’s edition of the exercise, held from October 3–12 saw the participation of 117 teams from 33 countries.
The NA has a proud record in the Exercise Cambrian Patrol, having previously won multiple gold, silver and bronze medals over the years. Its consistent performance is often cited as evidence of the professionalism, discipline, and operational readiness of its soldiers—many of whom serve with distinction in United Nations peacekeeping missions around the world.
Senior army officials, including generals, officers, junior commissioned officers, and other ranks, attended Sunday’s felicitation ceremony.
