KATHMANDU, Dec 24: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Gyanendra Shahi has criticized Communications and Information Technology Minister Jagdish Kharel, pointing out that despite the presence of mobile towers in Jumla and other remote parts of Karnali, network services remain unavailable.
Shahi took to social media on Wednesday, saying that while Minister Kharel is announcing “free WiFi” at various locations in the capital, he has failed to address connectivity problems in remote regions.

In a social media post, Shahi wrote, “Towers have been built in Jumla, but there is no network. Meanwhile, the communications minister keeps talking about ‘free WiFi.’ This is not just Jumla’s problem—it is the problem of the entire Karnali region and other remote areas.”
He added that despite changes in government and leadership, the state’s attitude toward Karnali and other remote regions has not changed. According to him, regardless of who comes to power, Karnali continues to be treated the same way.
Addressing Minister Kharel directly, Shahi said, “That’s why I say—Minister, instead of just talking, you have already built the towers; now make sure the network actually works.”
