BAITADI, April 11: Police have seized illegal goods worth over Rs 2.1 million from Pancheshwar Rural Municipality–4, Halduvinayak in Baitadi district.
According to the Armed Police Force, goods worth Rs 2,108,810 were confiscated during a late-night operation carried out around 3:00 AM on Sunday after intelligence suggested that smuggled goods from India were being transported into Nepal.
The seized consignment included 23 quintals of sugar, five quintals of misri (rock sugar), and other grocery items. A Bolero pickup (SuPra 01-001 Cha 2789) and a tractor (SuPra 01-002 Ta 5090) used in the transport were also taken under control.

The operation was led by Inspector Ramesh Prasad Pandey from Armed Police Force Mobile Team with support from Armed Police Force Nepal No. 51 Gulm Headquarters, Baitadi, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Jang Bahadur Kunwar.
He said the team acted on confidential information received earlier about ongoing smuggling activities in the area. “Based on the tip-off, the deployed team carried out checks and recovered the goods,” he said.
Those involved in smuggling managed to flee upon seeing security personnel, police said. The seized goods along with the vehicles have been handed over to the Mahakali Customs Office in Jhulaghat for further action.
