BIRATNAGAR, Feb 15: CPN-UML leader Sherdhan Rai has been elected chief minister of Province 1. Governor of the province Dr Govinda Bahadur Tumbahang, on Wednesday, appointed Rai to the post.
Dr Tumbahang presented him appointment certificate amid a function organized at the office of the State Chief. He wished Rai a successful tenure while handing the certificate.

His oath taking ceremony has been scheduled at Birendra Convention Hall on Thursday. The ceremony is expected to start at around 3 pm.
Talking to the media after receiving the certificate, Rai said he would form a small cabinet.
