KATHMANDU, March 30: Cloudy skies and scattered rainfall are expected across parts of Nepal as the country remains under the influence of westerly and local wind systems. While hilly and mountainous regions are seeing generally overcast conditions, the rest of the country is experiencing partly cloudy skies.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is already occurring at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
Windstorm with rainfall likely today
The DHM has forecast that this afternoon, cloud cover will persist in the hills and mountains, with partly cloudy conditions in the Terai. Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
Light to moderate rain is also expected at a few places in the Tarai of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, as well as in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim. Snowfall is likely in higher elevations.
Tonight, hilly and mountainous regions, including Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim, will remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the Tarai will see partly cloudy skies. Light rain with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places in Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim, with chances of snowfall in higher regions.
