DHANGADHI, April 20: Police arrested six individuals from various locations in Kailali District and Kanchanpur District on Sunday in possession of illegal narcotics suspected to be brown heroin.
According to police, the arrests were made through separate operations conducted from morning until evening.
In Kailali, a 25-year-old man from Shikhar Municipality-2 of Doti was apprehended from the bus park area of Godawari Municipality-2 with 370 milligrams of the substance. A team deployed from the Area Police Office, Malakheti, detained him after finding him suspicious during a routine check.
Similarly, in Lamkichuha Municipality-1, Thaplipur, a 30-year-old man was arrested with 160 milligrams of the substance by a team from the Area Police Office, Lamki.

In another incident in Bhajani Municipality-3, Kusumghat, police arrested a 30-year-old man from Joshipur Rural Municipality-7 with 540 milligrams of suspected narcotics. The arrest was made by a team from the Area Police Office, Bhajani.
In Kanchanpur District, two individuals aged 22 and 18 were taken into custody from Beldandi Rural Municipality-3, Banpurwa, with 860 milligrams of the substance. The operation was carried out by a police team from Bhunda Police Post.
In a separate case in Belauri Municipality-10, Darsikhalla, police intercepted a motorcycle (registration number Sudurpaschim Province 02–003 Pa 2373) acting suspiciously. The driver, aged 32, and a 25-year-old passenger were arrested after 10 grams and 520 milligrams of narcotics were recovered from their possession. The motorcycle has also been seized.
Police said further investigation is underway against all those arrested under narcotics-related offenses. Authorities noted a recent rise in drug trafficking and use in the Sudurpashchim region and said surveillance has been intensified to curb the trend.
