The no-confidence motion against Paetongtarn was initiated by the opposition, accusing Paetongtarn of a lack of ruling experience and ineffective governance.

This is the first time Paetongtarn has faced a no-confidence motion vote since taking office in September 2024. She was elected the country's 31st prime minister in August 2024 after winning a simple majority in a parliamentary vote.
