BAGMATI, Dec 18: In the five months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26, the Bagmati Province Government has collected revenue worth Rs 16.11 billion. This is 23.88 percent of the annual target set by the government.
From the first month i.e. Shrawan (mid-July to mid-August) to Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December) of the fiscal year, the government collected Rs 8.84 billion from property tax and vehicle tax, said Indraraj Sanyal, an officer at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Planning Development.
Diversifying Government Revenue
Real estate registration (property tax) and vehicle tax are the main sources of revenue collection for the province government. The government has estimated that Rs 30.89 billion will be collected in the FY 2025/26, under the two headings.
Similarly, the provincial government has collected Rs 2.95 billion in revenue under the vehicle inspection pass, route permit, driver's license distribution and renewal. Another Rs 3.68 billion was collected from the value added tax and Rs 4.37 billion from excise tax, according to the ministry.
In the current FY 2025/26, out of the estimated Rs 4.77 billion from the revenue collected from the internal sources of the provincial government has collected 31.44 percent or Rs 1.50 billion in the five months.
