KATHMANDU, July 21: With the monsoon triggering floods and landslides across the country, the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration have instructed district coordination officers and chief administrative officers to remain at their duty stations and attend their offices regularly to ensure a swift disaster response.
In a recent circular, the ministry directed local-level officials not to leave their offices during the ongoing monsoon season, stressing that their active presence is crucial for effective coordination, facilitation and timely decision-making during emergencies.

The ministry said the continuous rainfall and the resulting floods and landslides demand prompt action in rescue, relief, coordination and rehabilitation efforts. It has therefore asked officials on leave to shorten their leave, if necessary, and report to their respective offices.
The circular also instructs officials to maintain close coordination with district administration offices, security agencies, provincial governments and federal authorities to ensure the timely exchange of information, effective rescue and relief operations, and the collection of details on damage to life and property.
