KATHMANDU, Dec 29: The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has called on the government to take urgent steps to protect the life of Dr. Nicholas Bhusal, who has been on a sit-in hunger strike at Maitighar Mandala for several days demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister and Home Minister.
In a statement released today, the NMA warned that Dr. Bhusal’s health is deteriorating, citing symptoms such as numbness and swelling.

“Every Nepali has the fundamental right to live in good health. The NMA urges the government to take immediate measures to safeguard Dr. Bhusal’s life,” the statement read. Dr. Bhusal began his indefinite hunger strike on December 23.
Supporters of Nicolas stressed that continued government inaction is worsening his condition.
