KATHMANDU, Dec 19: The Consulate General of Nepal in Guangzhou successfully hosted a tourism promotion event titled “Explore Nepal: Adventure, Spirituality and Natural Beauty” at the Grand Hotel Haikou, on the sidelines of the China International Travel Mart (CITM) 2025.
The event aimed to deepen tourism cooperation between Nepal and China while presenting Nepal’s diverse travel offerings to Chinese travel professionals and tourism enthusiasts. Addressing the gathering, Nepal’s Consul General Bharat Khanal highlighted the long-standing friendship between the two countries and invited Chinese tourists and travel trade partners to experience Nepal’s natural, cultural and spiritual riches.
Participants were treated to a cinematic presentation showcasing Nepal’s Himalayan landscapes, followed by traditional Nepali dance performances that reflected the country’s vibrant cultural heritage. A detailed destination presentation by Archana K.C. Rana, Senior Manager at the Nepal Tourism Board, outlined Nepal’s adventure tourism, ancient heritage sites and spiritual attractions.

Mai Weiwen, president of the Haikou Travel Agencies Association, noted rising interest among Hainan’s outbound travelers in authentic and experiential destinations, expressing optimism for closer collaboration and the development of new Nepal-focused travel itineraries.
The program also featured a B2B meeting and matchmaking session between Nepali stakeholders and Hainan-based travel operators, laying the foundation for future partnerships. The event concluded with a networking dinner, further strengthening tourism ties.
Around 80 participants, including officials from the People’s Government of Hainan Province, tourism industry leaders, members of the Nepali diaspora and media representatives, attended the event, underscoring growing interest in Nepal as a premier travel destination for the Chinese market.
