SAPTARI, March 6: A person died on the spot after the cadres of the agitating United Democratic Madheshi Front (UDMF) clashed with security forces during a function organized by the CPN-UML as part of Mechi-Mahakali Campaign in Saptari.
UDMF cadre Sanjan Mehta of Maleth VDC- 2 has been killed by the bullet fired by the police while trying to control the situation.

The security forces deployed in the venue fired dozen shells of tear gas and several rounds of fire after the protesters attacked the gathering with bottles filled with petrol targeting the program venue.
Fourteen UDMF cadres are reportedly injured. The situation of four among those injured is said to be critical. 11 injured are reffered to Dharan based BP Koirala Institute of Health Science (BPKHIS) for the further treatment. As the clash erupted, the program ended after a short while.
