KATHMANDU, April 23: At least 19 people have died and 64 others have been injured in disaster-related incidents across the country over the past 10 days, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
The NDRRMA reported a total of 355 incidents between Baisakh 1 and 10 (mid-April period). Fire incidents accounted for the highest number, with 180 cases resulting in six deaths and 22 injuries. A total of 210 families were affected by fire-related incidents.

Windstorms caused the second-highest number of fatalities, with four people killed and seven injured in 28 incidents, affecting 194 families.
Although fewer in number, lightning strikes had a relatively high fatality rate. Nine lightning incidents claimed three lives and injured four others, impacting nine families.
There were 18 snakebite cases, resulting in one death and 18 injuries, affecting 18 families.
In other incidents, two people died after a boat capsized, while one death each was reported from animal attacks, landslides, and altitude sickness. Animal attacks also left 12 people injured, with 16 families affected.
