2,293 Nepali migrant workers in West Asia return home due to war effects

A total of 2,293 Nepalis have returned to their homeland as of Friday due to the effect of ongoing war in West Asia.

KATHMANDU, March 21: A total of 2,293 Nepalis have returned to their homeland as of Friday due to the effect of ongoing war in West Asia.



As per the records with the Department of Immigration, the number of returnees was ascertained based on the forms filled by those who wanted to return home after the tension in West Asia. Among the returnees, 209 were women and 2,084 were men. The highest number of 1,092 returnees came from Qatar, followed by 971 from Saudi Arabia and 121 from Oman.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepalis have started returning home amid the dilemma over physical security and employment. Many Nepali have decided to return to their home country after facing the stressful situation with the ongoing war for 23 consecutive days.
