BANGKOK, May 17: Nepal’s Ambassador to Thailand Dhan Bahadur Oli held discussions with Thatchai Pitaneelaboot to strengthen bilateral cooperation in combating human trafficking, smuggling, cybercrime, and online scams.
During the meeting, both sides explored ways to enhance intelligence sharing, information exchange, and capacity-building between the two countries’ law enforcement agencies.
They particularly discussed the rising misuse of tourist visa facilities by human traffickers and the use of Thailand as a transit point for trafficking networks. The Thai side assured immediate action upon receiving verified information from the Nepali Embassy regarding trafficking cases.

Ambassador Oli appreciated the support of the Royal Thai Police in the rescue and repatriation of Nepali nationals trafficked to Thailand and nearby countries.
Both sides also raised concerns over the increasing spread of online scam operations in the region and emphasized the need for closer coordination to identify and rescue victims trafficked into such cybercrime centers.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to further institutionalize cooperation between Nepal and Thailand’s law enforcement agencies and expand collaboration in training and capacity-building initiatives.
