BERLIN, Feb 14: A special meeting between art and diplomacy took place a few weeks ago at the Embassy of Nepal in Berlin. The artist duo Magdalena Wallbaum and Klaus R. Gerhold followed an invitation from Sagar Prasad Phuyal, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and Head of Mission of the Embassy of Nepal in Germany.
The two artists, also known as MK Kunst am Limit, created the impressive painting of Mount Everest in November 2025 under extreme conditions at an altitude of 5,000 meters, directly in front of the world’s highest mountain, turning the artwork into a unique artistic and physical achievement.

On this occasion, they presented a special copy of the artwork. This version was further refined by Wallbaum and Gerhold and enhanced, among other things, with gold leaf—symbolizing the world’s highest mountain and its cultural significance for Nepal.
The artwork has now been given a prominent place in the reception hall of the Nepalese Embassy in Berlin, where it is on display for guests and visitors.
As a special recognition of their work, Magdalena Wallbaum and Klaus R. Gerhold were warmly received by His Excellency Mr. Sagar Prasad Phuyal and discussed the cultural importance of Mount Everest as well as possibilities for future artistic cooperation between Nepal and Germany.
Mr. Ranjan Yadav, First Secretary of the Embassy of Nepal in Germany, was also present at the meeting.
The artist duo expressed their gratitude for the appreciation of their work and for the opportunity to build a cultural bridge between Nepal and Germany through art.
